CineMaestro – Shaping Future Filmmakers culminated today with the screening of magnificent short films made by students of the city schools. In this unique event, an unprecedented perception of using Filmmaking as a learning tool was used and introduced to more than 250 students of Tri-City schools.

Bollywood director Amitabha Singh and his crew had come up with this idea to train the students in script-writing, shooting, editing, directing, and acting in a three-day hands-on workshop when they had visited Chitkara International School earlier this month. The students gained valuable hands-on experience of using professional equipment and learned to make own short films.

“Only a few films are made in India for children, even though they are the future of this country and full of unique and beautiful ideas. CineMaestro is a platform to find filmmaking geniuses and give a boost to the production of children’s cinema in our country,” said Amitabha Singh, when asked about the vision behind this workshop. On the day of the awards ceremony, outstanding short films submitted by the students were screened.

Bollywood actor and Producer Jimmy Shergill was the chief guest. “The platform that CineMaestro has provided to the students will surely magnify their filmmaking skills,” Shergill said. There was also an online films category for independent participants. Chitkara International principal Niyati Chitkara said: “CineMaestro has helped us see filmmaking as a learning tool.”
